Aim: The aim of the paper was twofold. Firstly, to identify and define the European Union’s approach to Artificial Intelligence from the territorial perspective. The main aim was achieved through a detailed analysis of the EU strategic documents evoking regional and urban aspects of AI. Secondly, the significance of Digital Innovation Hubs as a key AI European policy instrument was assessed In this paper, the author tried to answer the following research question: to what extent are the Digital Innovation Hubs a key policy instrument of the European Union’s approach to AI from a territorial perspective? Methodology: Literature review, desk research and text analysis (for EU strategic documents related to AI from the period 2018-onwards) are used as research methods in this paper. Results: The results show that the territorial dimension of AI, especially in the context of the EU strategic documents, has only been discussed to a limited extent. However, there are indeed some EU initiatives with a focus on AI, or to a large degree – their digital aspects. It is the case of Digital…

Zróżnicowanie regionalne w Polsce w zakresie realizacji celów zrównoważonego rozwoju

    Mariola Grzebyk, Joanna Kudełko

    2 citationsOpen access (CC-BY-SA)doi:10.15611/pn.2024.1.04OpenAlex

    Show abstract

Rozwój zrównoważony należy do zjawisk złożonych, dlatego porównanie poziomu i ocena postępów regionów Polski we wdrażaniu jego założeń są szczególnie trudne. Autorki w artykule dokonały próby wyznaczenia miary syntetycznej metodą wzorca rozwoju Hellwiga celów 3, 8 i 13 rozwoju zrównoważonego. Analizując wyniki stopnia zrównoważenia rozwoju w zakresie wszystkich trzech komponentów rozwoju zrównoważonego (społecznego, gospodarczego i środowiskowego) w badanych latach, nie zaobserwowano postępu w zakresie zrównoważenia wszystkich aspektów rozwoju.

Exploring Generation Z's Skepticism Towards Cause-Related Marketing: Understanding the Antecedents and Consequences

    Wojciech Kozłowski

    2 citationsOpen access (CC-BY-SA)doi:10.15611/pn.2024.2.09OpenAlex

    Show abstract

Although cause-related marketing (CRM) is being increasingly applied, little is known about GenZ skepticism. This study aimed to understand the antecedents and consequences of skepticism towards CRM offers among GenZ consumers. Quantitative research was used to test the conceptual model using structural equation model (SEM). The analysis confirmed the proposed hypothesis. The author's findings provide empirical evidence that altruism and the perceived company’s motivation negatively affect skepticism toward a CRM campaign. This study further proves the effect of consumer skepticism on purchase intention. As skepticism increases, the willingness to buy cause-related products decreases. The findings are relevant for both scholars and marketers. Scientists will be enriched with knowledge about the prosocial behaviour of Generation Z. From a managerial perspective, this research could help practitioners to design CRM campaigns effectively. To the best of the author’s knowledge, no such study has been conducted in the context of Poland.

Mapping Strategies of Net Working Capital in the Energy Sector in Poland – Transformation Perspective

    Monika Walicka

    2 citationsOpen access (CC-BY-SA)doi:10.15611/pn.2024.2.05OpenAlex

    Show abstract

The aim of the article is to identify net working capital management strategies used in the energy sector. The analysis covered all companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange under the WIG-Energy industry index. The study was conducted on the basis of financial reports for 2022-2023, with data from the latest reported quarters, i.e. Q1 and Q2 of year 2023, used in strategy mapping. The ratio analysis method was used with reference to industry indicators, and the dynamics of changes in the examined indicators was taken into account. The research results indicate that currently energy entities mainly use agressive strategies (64%). The sector's net working capital forecast indicates that the strong growth trend that has been seen since 2020 will gradually begin to slow down from 2023. As a result of using the indicator mapping technique, significant concentration of indictors can be noted in the sector, with only two entities differing from the rest of the sector in this regard.

Employee Commitment and the Manager-Employee Relationship. An International Work Environment Leadership Model

    Gabriel Grabowski, Magdalena Stefańska

    2 citationsOpen access (CC-BY-SA)doi:10.15611/pn.2024.3.09OpenAlex

    Show abstract

Aim: The primary objective of this article is to thoroughly explore the issue of employee commitment within the context of the manager-employee relationship and proposing a model of the process of preparing manager to build superior-subordinate relation and form employee commitment in the organisation’s foreign branch. Methodology: The qualitative method of research was implemented in the form of individual in-depth interviews (IDIs) conducted with top managers of internationally operating organisations. Results: Manager-employee relationships evolve. To make the process more satisfactory for both sides, the Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) theory and Positive Organizational Scholarship (POS) concept should be integrated in it. Both concepts are inherently linked to employee management in the international environment. Furthermore, LMX is evolving towards relational leader-member exchange (RLMX). The process of adaptation to a new work environment is connected not only with the cultural, but also personal characteristics of managers and their experience in operating in international…

Integracja pracowników z Ukrainy, Białorusi i Gruzji – nowe wyzwania dla ZZL w organizacjach w Polsce

    Anna Ścibior-Butrym

    1 citationsOpen access (CC-BY-SA)doi:10.15611/pn.2024.1.13OpenAlex

    Show abstract

Przeprowadzone badanie stanowi fazę wstępną do dalszych, pogłębionych dociekań naukowych.
