Branża turystyczna stanowi jedną z głównych gałęzi polskiej gospodarki mających duży udział w wytwarzaniu wartości dodanej brutto i utrzymywaniu miejsc pracy. Pandemia SARS-CoV-2 negatywnie oddziałuje na branżę turystyczną, obciążając ją coraz nowszymi obostrzeniami dotyczącymi m.in. zamykania obiektów hotelowych. Zakres czasowy natomiast został zdeterminowany okresem trwania pandemii. Na podstawie dostępnych danych statystycznych przeprowadzono krytyczną analizę danych źródłowych przedmiotu badania, przeanalizowano wielkość strat na podstawie analizy bazy noclegowej oraz poziomu zadłużenia

A dynamic perspective on competition between traditional banking and banking fintechs.Prace Naukowe Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego we Wrocławiu, 65(2).Summary: The emergence of innovative financial services is having a huge impact on competition in the banking services market. The aim of the article is to show, from a dynamic perspective, the foundations of a model of competition occurring in the banking world between traditional financial institutions and fintechs.A dynamic two-sector model of competition is proposed with built-in feedback mechanisms in the form of demand side economies of scale. The model shows changes in market shares after a challenger enters a bank's market with a portfolio of services as substitutes for the bank's product offer. The traditional and new entities do not adjust the scope of their products over time, instead competing using those already available. The model obtained three economically significant steady states.Further analysis of the time path showed that the sector is heading towards an oligopolistic market structure in which both entities stabilize…

Plastic recycling in Poland – a transformation towards a circular economy?
Bernadeta Baran

Show abstractHide abstract
Plastic is one of the world’s most-used materials. Unfortunately, its widespread use is also connected with a large amount of waste. The main challenge of modern economies, including Poland, is the transition into a circular economy, which aims to minimize the amount of waste generated and the use of unavoidable waste as resources through recycling processes. The aim of the article is to indicate the degree of Poland’s transformation in the area of plastic waste recycling. Poland produces less plastic waste than the EU15, but the level of recycling is lower than the EU average. The recycling of plastic waste is largely based on easy-to-collect waste from commercial networks and transport. A further increase in the recycling rate will be possible when the selective collection and recycling of household waste is intensified. Both campaigns promoting the ecological awareness of inhabitants and systemic actions aimed at increasing the degree of use of recyclable materials are necessary

The sustainable development of an enterprise includes the implementation of the economic, social, and environmental goals. In business practice, this means taking actions to maximize profits while implementing social and ecological tasks. The article’s primary goal is to assess the impact of the financial condition on the components of sustainable development of transport companies in Poland in 2008-2019. A company’s sustainable development is understood here as achieving the intended economic, social, and environmental results. The primary method used in the study is the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method, which allowed for the estimation of three equations in which the endogenous variables are economic (ED), social (SD) and environmental development (EnvD). According to the estimation results, the individual components are interdependent. The financial condition (FC) for the current period and the previous one impact on economic and social development, while environmental development depends on its financial situation
