Cite from Kahubi, right inside Word

A free Microsoft Word add-in that searches your Kahubi reference library and inserts citations and bibliographies in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE or Vancouver.

Download manifest.xml

Free · Word 2016+, Mac and web · no document access

In-text citations at the cursor

Search your library from a side panel and insert (Author, Year) or [1] style citations exactly where you are typing — no copy-paste round trips.

One-click bibliography

The add-in tracks everything you cite in the document and inserts a formatted reference list — alphabetical for author–date styles, numbered for IEEE and Vancouver.

Six citation styles

APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE and Vancouver — switch styles at any time; the next inserts follow the new style.

Always in sync

The panel reads your live Kahubi library — including papers imported from Zotero and Mendeley — so new references are citable the moment you add them.

Frequently asked questions

Is the add-in free?
Yes. It works with every Kahubi plan, including the free plan — it only needs a reference library to read from.
Which versions of Word are supported?
Word 2016 or newer on Windows and Mac, and Word for the web. The add-in uses Microsoft’s standard Office.js platform.
Can I use my Zotero or Mendeley references?
Yes. Connect Zotero or Mendeley in Kahubi’s Settings → Integrations and your references sync into your Kahubi library, where the Word add-in can cite them.
Which citation styles are available?
APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE and Vancouver, for both in-text citations and the bibliography.
Does Kahubi see my document?
No. The add-in only inserts text at your cursor. It never reads, uploads or stores your document content.
