A publication list that updates itself

Most lab websites list papers up to the year someone last had time to edit the page. Paste this widget once and your publications page stays current, with citation counts, open-access PDF links and one-click citations.

Why is this free?

  • It carries a small credit

Each list ends with a "Publication list by Kahubi" link. That link is how people find us, and it is the whole price.

  • The data is open

Papers, citations and open-access links come from OpenAlex, a free and open index of research. We already use it every day.

  • It costs us almost nothing to run

Each list is fetched about once a day and then served from a cache. No AI runs when someone views your page.

  • No cookies, no visitor tracking

The widget sets no cookies and stores nothing about your visitors. We only keep a view count and the name of the site it is embedded on.

1. Lab members

Add the PI and anyone whose papers belong on the list. Each paper appears once, even when several of you wrote it.

Lab members are shown in bold in author lists.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick your lab members

Search by name, or paste an ORCID or OpenAlex id. Add up to 25 people.

  2. 2

    Paste one snippet

Copy the snippet into your publications page, once. It works on any page where you can add HTML and a script tag.

  3. 3

    Forget about it

Every night the list is refreshed from OpenAlex. New papers show up with a "New" badge. Nobody at the lab has to do anything.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?
No. Build the list, copy the snippet, paste it into your website. If you want to hide or pin papers, add a missing DOI or highlight lab members, claim the list with a free Kahubi login.
How does it stay up to date?
Kahubi refreshes every list from OpenAlex every night and caches it. New papers usually appear within a day or two of being indexed by OpenAlex and are marked "New" for 90 days.
Where does the data come from?
From OpenAlex, the open catalogue of scholarly works. Citation counts, open-access PDF links and research topics are OpenAlex data too. If a paper is missing, you can add it by DOI after claiming the list.
What does the widget track?
Nothing about your visitors. It sets no cookies and uses no browser storage. Our server counts how often the list is loaded and remembers which website it is embedded on (the host name only), so we can see where it is used.
What if Kahubi is down?
The snippet contains a plain link to your full list. If the widget cannot load, that link stays on your page, so the section never goes blank.
Will it clash with my website design?
The widget renders in its own isolated container, so your site styles cannot break it. It picks light or dark to match your page and you can set your own accent color and font with CSS variables.
Can I remove the credit link?
The credit is what keeps the widget free, so it stays. It is one small line of text under the list.
