    Soil-Structure Interaction for Building Structures

    Suhaib Anwar

    160 citationsOpen accessdoi:10.22214/ijraset.2021.37763OpenAlex

    Show abstract

Abstract: In the analysis of structures subjected to earthquake forces, it is usually assumed that the structure is fixed at the base to simplify the mathematical problem. This assumption leads to gross error in assessment of overall response under dynamic loads. The interaction phenomenon is principally affected by the mechanism of energy exchanged between the soil and the structure during an earthquake. In the present investigation, a multi-storied building which is located in Amaravati is chosen as the study area which consists of different types of soil / rock profiles at different locations. Many high rise structures are expected in future in the new city. Earthquake analysis is carried out when similar structure rests on different types of soils and the results of fundamental time periods, base shears and displacements are compared with the results obtained from fixed base condition.

Computer vision researchers worked on this a lot and they considered it impossible until now! With the advancement in Deep learning techniques, availability of huge datasets and computer power, we can build models that can generate captions for an image. Image Caption Generator is a popular research area of Deep Learning that deals with image understanding and a language description for that image. Generating well-formed sentences requires both syntactic and semantic understanding of the language. Being able to describe the content of an image using accurately formed sentences is a very challenging task, but it could also have a great impact, by helping visually impaired people better understand the content of images. The biggest challenge is most definitely being able to create a description that must capture not only the objects contained in an image, but also express how these objects relate to each other. The research paper simulates airflow in a supersonic De Laval nozzle and explores air flow actions isolated from the local area's nozzle. The pressure levels in the input portion of the nozzle (pressure-inlet condition) and the atmospheric output parts (pressure-outlet condition) are used to replicate the current model. The fluid divides the motion of a lambda shock, led to a series of expansion and compression waves; for 1:4 < NPR < 2:4, the estimation shows the probability of an asymmetric flow structure. Computationally obtained asymmetric flow models are compatible with previous theoretical flow visualization studies. The nozzle pressure ratio (NPR) is equivalent to balancing the nozzle's inlet air pressure to the ambient pressure. Thus, the value of the nozzle pressure ratio in the current system is 1.5, and the amount of inlet air pressure and the pressure at the output is equal to the ambient pressure. The data contrast review indicates adequate coordination between the experimental data and the simulation outcomes. The surrounding zone is also affected during the shock wave…

Arduino Based Solar Tracking System for Energy Improvement of PV Solar Panel

    Smita Dinker

    17 citationsOpen accessdoi:10.22214/ijraset.2021.36411OpenAlex

    Show abstract

Solar energy is a clean, easily accessible and abundantly available alternative energy source in nature. Getting solar energy from nature is very beneficial for power generation. Using a fixed Photovoltaic panels extract maximum energy only during 12 noon to 2 PM in Nigeria which results in less energy efficiency. Therefore, the need to improve the energy efficiency of PV solar panel through building a solar tracking system cannot be over-emphasized. Photovoltaic panels must be perpendicular with the sun in order to get maximum energy. The methodology employed in this work includes the implementation of an Arduino based solar tracking system. Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) are used to sense the intensity of sunlight and hence the PV solar panel is adjusted accordingly to track maximum energy. The mechanism uses servo motor to control the movement of the solar panel. The microcontroller is used to control the servo motor based on signals received from the LDRs. The result of this work has clearly shown that the tracking solar panel produces more energy compared to a fixed panel.

: Heart disease has been one of the ruling causes for death for quite some time now. About 31% of all deaths every year in the world take place as a result of cardiovascular diseases [1]. A majority of the patients remain uninformed of their symptoms until quite late while others find it difficult to minimise the effects of risk factors that cause heart diseases. Machine Learning Algorithms have been quite efficacious in producing results with a high level of correctness thereby preventing the onset of heart diseases in many patients and reducing the impact in the ones that are already affected by such diseases. It has helped medical researchers and doctors all over the world in recognising patterns in the patients resulting in early detections of heart diseases.

Heart diseases have been the primary reason for death all over the world. Majority of the deaths related to cardiovascular problems are caused by heart attacks and strokes. The World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that an approximate 17.9 million people die due to such diseases every year. Therefore, it is essential that we find methods to ensure the minimization of these numbers. In order to minimize the detrimental effects of heart diseases, we must try to predict its presence at earlier stages. Machine Learning algorithms can help us effectively predict such results with a high degree of accuracy which can in turn help doctors and patients detect the onset of such diseases and reduce their impact or prevent them from occurring. Our objective is to create a system that is able to accurately determine the presence of heart disease in a time and cost efficient manner.
