Electromagnetic (EM) absorbing and shielding composites with tunable absorbing behaviors based on Ti3C2 MXenes are fabricated via HF etching and annealing treatment. Localized sandwich structure without sacrificing the original layered morphology is realized, which is responsible for the enhancement of EM absorbing capability in the X-band. The composite with 50 wt % annealed MXenes exhibits a minimum reflection loss of -48.4 dB at 11.6 GHz, because of the formation of TiO2 nanocrystals and amorphous carbon. Moreover, superior shielding effectiveness with high absorption effectiveness is achieved. The total and absorbing shielding effectiveness of Ti3C2 MXenes in a wax matrix with a thickness of only 1 mm reach values of 76.1 and 67.3 dB, while those of annealed Ti3C2 MXenes/wax composites are 32 and 24.2 dB, respectively. Considering the promising performance of Ti3C2 MXenes with the modified surface, this work is expected to open the door for the expanded applications of MXenes family in EM absorbing and shielding fields.

Potassium may exhibit advantages over lithium or sodium as a charge carrier in rechargeable batteries. Analogues of Prussian blue can provide millions of cyclic voltammetric cycles in aqueous electrolyte. Potassium intercalation chemistry has recently been demonstrated compatible with both graphite and nongraphitic carbons. In addition to potassium–ion batteries, potassium–O 2 (or −air) and potassium–sulfur batteries are emerging. Additionally, aqueous potassium–ion batteries also exhibit high reversibility and long cycling life. Because of potentially low cost, availability of basic materials, and intriguing electrochemical behaviors, this new class of secondary batteries is attracting much attention. This mini-review summarizes the current status, opportunities, and future challenges of potassium secondary batteries.

Effectively harvesting light to generate long-lived charge carriers to suppress the recombination of electrons and holes is crucial for photocatalytic reactions. Exposing the highly active facets has been regarded as a powerful approach to high-performance photocatalysts. Herein, a hybrid comprised of {001} facets of TiO2 nanosheets and layered Ti3C2, an emerging 2D material, was synthesized by a facile hydrothermal partial oxidation of Ti3C2. The in situ growth of TiO2 nanosheets on Ti3C2 allows for the interface with minimized defects, which was demonstrated by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and density functional theory calculations. The highly active {001} facets of TiO2 afford high-efficiency photogeneration of electron-hole pairs, meanwhile the carrier separation is substantially promoted by the hole trapping effect by the interfacial Schottky junction with 2D Ti3C2 acting as a reservoir of holes. The improved charge separation and exposed active facets dramatically boost the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange dye, showing the promise of 2D…

Al-contaminated Ta-substituted Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZ:Ta), synthesized via solid-state reaction, and Al-free Ta-substituted Li7La3Zr2O12, fabricated by hot-press sintering (HP-LLZ:Ta), have relative densities of 92.7% and 99.0%, respectively. Impedance spectra show the total conductivity of LLZ:Ta to be 0.71 mS cm(-1) at 30 °C and that of HP-LLZ:Ta to be 1.18 mS cm(-1). The lower total conductivity for LLZ:Ta than HP-LLZ:Ta was attributed to the higher grain boundary resistance and lower relative density of LLZ:Ta, as confirmed by their microstructures. Constant direct current measurements of HP-LLZ:Ta with a current density of 0.5 mA cm(-2) suggest that the short circuit formation was neither due to the low relative density of the samples nor the reduction of Li-Al glassy phase at grain boundaries. TEM, EELS, and MAS NMR were used to prove that the short circuit was from Li dendrite formation inside HP-LLZ:Ta, which took place along the grain boundaries. The Li dendrite formation was found to be mostly due to the inhomogeneous contact between LLZ solid electrolyte and Li electrodes. By…

pH-sensitive hydrogels play an important role in controlled drug release applications and have the potential to impact the management of wounds. In this study, we report the fabrication of novel carboxylated agarose/tannic acid hydrogel scaffolds cross-linked with zinc ions for the pH-controlled release of tannic acid. The resulting hydrogels exhibited negligible release of tannic acid at neutral and alkaline pH and sustained release at acidic pH, where they also displayed maximum swelling. The hydrogels also displayed favorable antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and a lack of cytotoxicity toward 3T3 fibroblast cell lines. In simulated wound assays, significantly greater cell migration and proliferation was observed for cells exposed to tannic acid hydrogel extracts. In addition, the tannic acid hydrogels were able to suppress NO production in stimulated human macrophages in a concentration-dependent manner, indicating effective anti-inflammatory activity. Taken together, the cytocompatibility, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory characteristics of these novel…

In pursuit of energy efficiency and durability throughout human history, advances in lubricants have always played important roles. Ionic liquids (ILs) are room-temperature molten salts that possess unique physicochemical properties and have shown great potential in many applications with lubrication as one of the latest. While earlier work (2001-2011) primarily explored the feasibility of using ILs as neat or base lubricants, using ILs as lubricant additives has become the new focal research topic since the breakthrough in ILs' miscibility in nonpolar hydrocarbon oils in early 2012. This work reviews the recent advances in developing ILs as additives for lubrication with an attempt to correlate among the cationic and anionic structures, oil-solubility, and other relevant physicochemical properties, and lubricating behavior. Effects of the concentration of ILs in lubricants and the compatibility between ILs and other additives in the lubricant formulation on the tribological performance are described followed by a discussion of wear protection mechanism based on tribofilm…

Using elliptical iron glycolate nanosheets as precursors, elliptical Fe3O4/C core-shell nanorings (NRs) [25 ± 10 nm in wall thickness, 150 ± 40 nm in length, and 1.6 ± 0.3 in long/short axis ratio] are synthesized via a one-pot hydrothermal route. The surface-poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP)-protected-glucose reduction/carbonization/Ostwald ripening mechanism is responsible for Fe3O4/C NR formation. Increasing the glucose/precursor molar ratio can enhance carbon contents, causing a linear decrease in saturation magnetization (Ms) and coercivity (Hc). The Fe3O4/C NRs reveal enhanced low-frequency microwave absorption because of improvements to their permittivity and impedance matching. A maximum RL value of -55.68 dB at 3.44 GHz is achieved by Fe3O4/C NRs with 11.95 wt % C content at a volume fraction of 17 vol %. Reflection loss (RL) values (≤-20 dB) are observed at 2.11-10.99 and 16.5-17.26 GHz. Our research provides insights into the microwave absorption mechanism of elliptical Fe3O4/C core-shell NRs. Findings indicate that ring-like and core-shell nanostructures are promising…

Rational design and construction of Z-scheme photocatalysts has received much attention in the field of CO2 reduction because of its great potential to solve the current energy and environmental crises. In this study, a series of Z-scheme BiOI/g-C3N4 photocatalysts are synthesized and their photocatalytic performance for CO2 reduction to produce CO, H2 and/or CH4 is evaluated under visible light irradiation (λ > 400 nm). The results show that the as-synthesized composites exhibit more highly efficient photocatalytic activity than pure g-C3N4 and BiOI and that the product yields change remarkably depending on the reaction conditions such as irradiation light wavelength. Emphasis is placed on identifying how the charge transfers across the heterojunctions and an indirect Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism is verified by detecting the intermediate I3(-) ions. The reaction mechanism is further proposed based on the detection of the intermediate (•)OH and H2O2. This work may be useful for rationally designing of new types of Z-scheme photocatalyst and provide some illuminating insights…

The Ni@void@SnO 2 composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicate that interspaces exist between the Ni cores and SnO 2 shells. Moreover, the void can be adjusted by controlling the hydrothermal reaction time. The unique yolk–shell Ni@void@SnO 2 composites show outstanding electromagnetic wave absorption properties. A minimum reflection loss (RL min ) of −50.2 dB was obtained at 17.4 GHz with absorber thickness of 1.5 mm. In addition, considering the absorber thickness, minimal reflection loss, and effective bandwidth, a novel method to judge the effective microwave absorption properties is proposed. The fabrication of low-density and compressible polymer/graphene composite (PGC) foams for adjustable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding remains a daunting challenge. Herein, ultralightweight and compressible PGC foams have been developed by simple solution dip-coating of graphene on commercial polyurethane (PU) sponges with highly porous network structure. The resultant PU/graphene (PUG) foams had a density as low as ∼0.027-0.030 g/cm(3) and possessed good comprehensive EMI shielding performance together with an absorption-dominant mechanism, possibly due to both conductive dissipation and multiple reflections and scattering of EM waves by the inside 3D conductive graphene network. Moreover, by taking advantage of their remarkable compressibility, the shielding performance of the PUG foams could be simply adjusted through a simple mechanical compression, showing promise for adjustable EMI shielding. We believe that the strategy for fabricating PGC foams through a simple dip-coating method could potentially promote the large-scale production of lightweight foam materials…

Using nanomaterials to achieve functional enzyme mimics (nanozymes) is attractive for both applied and fundamental research. Laccases are multicopper oxidases highly important for biotechnology and environmental remediation. In this work, we report an exceptionally simple yet functional laccase mimic based on guanosine monophosphate (GMP) coordinated copper. It forms an amorphous metal–organic framework (MOF) material. The ratio of copper and GMP is 3:4 as determined by isothermal titration calorimetry. It has excellent laccase-like activity and converts a diverse range of phenol containing substrates such as hydroquinone, naphthol, catechol and epinephrine. Comparative work shows that the activity is originated from guanosine coordination instead of phosphate binding in GMP. Cu 2+ is required and cannot be substituted by other metal ions. At the same mass concentration, the Cu/GMP nanozyme has a higher V max and similar K m compared to the protein laccase. To achieve the same catalytic efficiency, the cost of the Gu/GMP is ∼2400-fold lower than that of laccase. The Cu/GMP is much…

Shape memory hydrogels have promising applications in a wide variety of fields. Here we report the facile fabrication of a novel type of shape memory hydrogels physically cross-linked with both stronger and weaker hydrogen bonding (H-bonding). Strong multiple H-bonding formed between poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and tannic acid (TA) leads to their coagulation when they are physically mixed at an elevated temperature and easy gelation at room temperature. The amorphous structure and strong H-bonding endow the PVA-TA hydrogels with excellent mechanical properties, as indicated by their high tensile strengths (up to 2.88 MPa) and high elongations (up to 1100%). The stronger H-bonding between PVA and TA functions as the "permanent" cross-link and the weaker H-bonding between PVA chains as the "temporary" cross-link. The reversible breakage and formation of the weaker H-bonding imparts the PVA-TA hydrogels with excellent temperature-responsive shape memory. Wet and dried hydrogel samples with a deformed or elongated shape can recover to their original shapes when immersed in 60 °C water in…

Lead halide perovskites hold promise for photonic devices, due to their superior optoelectronic properties. However, their use is limited by poor stability and toxicity. We demonstrate enhanced water and light stability of high-surface-area colloidal perovskite nanocrystals by encapsulation of colloidal CsPbBr 3 quantum dots into matched hydrophobic macroscale polymeric matrices. This is achieved by mixing the quantum dots with presynthesized high-molecular-weight polymers. We monitor the photoluminescence quantum yield of the perovskite–polymer nanocomposite films under water-soaking for the first time, finding no change even after >4 months of continuous immersion in water. Furthermore, photostability is greatly enhanced in the macroscale polymer-encapsulated nanocrystal perovskites, which sustain >10 10 absorption events per quantum dot prior to photodegradation, a significant threshold for potential device use. Control of the quantum dot shape in these thin-film polymer composite enables color tunability via strong quantum-confinement in nanoplates and significant room…

We report a flexible and wearable pressure sensor based on the giant piezocapacitive effect of a three-dimensional (3-D) microporous dielectric elastomer, which is capable of highly sensitive and stable pressure sensing over a large tactile pressure range. Due to the presence of micropores within the elastomeric dielectric layer, our piezocapacitive pressure sensor is highly deformable by even very small amounts of pressure, leading to a dramatic increase in its sensitivity. Moreover, the gradual closure of micropores under compression increases the effective dielectric constant, thereby further enhancing the sensitivity of the sensor. The 3-D microporous dielectric layer with serially stacked springs of elastomer bridges can cover a much wider pressure range than those of previously reported micro-/nanostructured sensing materials. We also investigate the applicability of our sensor to wearable pressure-sensing devices as an electronic pressure-sensing skin in robotic fingers as well as a bandage-type pressure-sensing device for pulse monitoring at the human wrist. It is well accepted that the microwave absorption performance (MAP) of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can be enhanced via coating magnetic nanoparticles on their surfaces. However, it is still unclear if the magnetic coating structure has a significant influence on the microwave absorption behavior. In this work, nano-Fe 3 O 4 compact-coated CNTs (FCCs) and Fe 3 O 4 loose-coated CNTs (FLCs) are prepared using a simple solvothermal method. The MAP of the Fe 3 O 4 -coated CNTs is shown to be adjustable via controlling the Fe 3 O 4 nanocoating structure. The results reveal that the overall MAP of coated CNTs strongly depends on the magnetic coating structure. In addition, the FCCs show a much better MAP than the FLCs. It is shown that the microwave absorption difference between the FLCs and FCCs is due to the disparate complementarities between the dielectric loss and the magnetic loss, which are related to the coverage density of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles on the surfaces of CNTs. For FCCs, the mass ratio of CNTs to Fe 3+ is then optimized to maximize the effective complementarities between the…

However, conventional processing approaches have restricted the design space of such smart structures. Herein, 4D active shape-changing architectures in custom-defined geometries exhibiting thermally and remotely actuated behaviors are achieved by direct-write printing of ultraviolet (UV) cross-linking poly(lactic acid)-based inks. However, most of the Prussian blue compounds obtained from the conventional synthetic routes contain large amounts of Fe(CN)6 vacancies and coordinated water molecules, which leads to the collapse of cyano-bridged framework and serious deterioration of their Na-storage ability. Herein, we propose a facile citrate-assisted controlled crystallization method to obtain low-defect Prussian blue lattice with greatly improved Na-storage capacity and cycling stability. As an example, the as-prepared Na2CoFe(CN)6 nanocrystals demonstrate a reversible 2-Na storage reaction with a high specific capacity of 150 mAh g(-1) and a ∼ 90% capacity retention over 200 cycles, possibly serving as a low cost and high performance cathode for Na-ion batteries. In particular, the synthetic strategy described in this work may be extended to other coordination-framework materials for a wide range of energy conversion and…

Smart drug delivery systems (DDSs) have attracted the attention of many scientists, as carriers that can be stimulated by changes in environmental parameters such as temperature, pH, light, electromagnetic fields, mechanical forces, etc. These smart nanocarriers can release their cargo on demand when their target is reached and the stimulus is applied. Using the techniques of nanotechnology, these nanocarriers can be tailored to be target-specific, and exhibit delayed or controlled release of drugs. Temperature-responsive nanocarriers are one of most important groups of smart nanoparticles (NPs) that have been investigated during the past decades. Temperature can either act as an external stimulus when heat is applied from the outside, or can be internal when pathological lesions have a naturally elevated termperature. A low critical solution temperature (LCST) is a special feature of some polymeric materials, and most of the temperature-responsive nanocarriers have been designed based on this feature. In this review, we attempt to summarize recent efforts to prepare innovative…

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are studied for the design of advanced nanocomposite membranes, primarily due to their ultrahigh surface area, regular and highly tunable pore structures, and favorable polymer affinity. However, the development of engineered MOF-based membranes for water treatment lags behind. Here, thin-film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes containing poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) modified ZIF-8 (mZIF) in a polyamide (PA) layer were constructed via a facile interfacial polymerization (IP) method. The modified hydrophilic mZIF nanoparticles were evenly dispersed into an aqueous solution comprising piperazine (PIP) monomers, followed by polymerizing with trimesoyl chloride (TMC) to form a composite PA film. FT-IR spectroscopy and XPS analyses confirm the presence of mZIF nanoparticles on the top layer of the membranes. SEM and AFM images evince a retiform morphology of the TFN-mZIF membrane surface, which is intimately linked to the hydrophilicity and adsorption capacity of mZIF nanoparticles. Furthermore, the effect of different ZIF-8 loadings on the overall…

Catalysts for oxygen evolution reactions (OER) and hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) are central to key renewable energy technologies, including fuel cells and water splitting. Despite tremendous effort, the development of low-cost electrode catalysts with high activity remains a great challenge. In this study, we report the synthesis of CoSe2 and NiSe2 nanocrystals (NCs) as excellent bifunctional catalysts for simultaneous generation of H2 and O2 in water-splitting reactions. NiSe2 NCs exhibit superior electrocatalytic efficiency in OER, with a Tafel slope (b) of 38 mV dec(-1) (in 1 M KOH), and HER, with b = 44 mV dec(-1) (in 0.5 M H2SO4). In comparison, CoSe2 NCs are less efficient for OER (b = 50 mV dec(-1)), but more efficient for HER (b = 40 mV dec(-1)). It was found that CoSe2 NCs contained more metallic metal ions than NiSe2, which could be responsible for their improved performance in HER. Robust evidence for surface oxidation suggests that the surface oxide layers are the actual active sites for OER, and that CoSe2 (or NiSe2) under the surface act as good conductive…

In this paper, a hierarchical NiCo2S4@polypyrrole core-shell heterostructure nanotube array on Ni foam (NiCo2S4@PPy/NF) was successfully developed as a bind-free electrode for supercapacitors. NiCo2S4@PPy-50/NF obtained under 50 s PPy electrodeposition shows a low charge-transfer resistance (0.31 Ω) and a high area specific capacitance of 9.781 F/cm(2) at a current density of 5 mA/cm(2), which is two times higher than that of pristine NiCo2S4/NF (4.255 F/cm(2)). Furthermore, an asymmetric supercapacitor was assembled using NiCo2S4@PPy-50/NF as positive electrode and activated carbon (AC) as negative electrode. The resulting NiCo2S4@PPy-50/NF//AC device exhibits a high energy density of 34.62 Wh/kg at a power density of 120.19 W/kg with good cycling performance (80.64% of the initial capacitance retention at 50 mA/cm(2) over 2500 cycles). The superior electrochemical performance can be attributed to the combined contribution of both component and unique core-shell heterostructure. The results demonstrate that the NiCo2S4@PPy-50 core-shell heterostructure nanotube array is promising…

The development of rechargeable zinc ion batteries with high capacity and high cycling stability is a great challenge in aqueous solution due to hydrogen evolution and dendritic growth of zinc. In this study, we present a zinc ion secondary battery, comprising a metallic zinc anode, a bio-ionic liquid-water electrolyte, and a nanostructured prussian blue analogue (PBA) cathode. Both the Zn anode and the PBA cathode exhibit good compatibility with the bio-ionic liquid-water electrolyte, which enables the electrochemical deposition/dissolution of zinc at the zinc anode, and reversible insertion/extraction of Zn(2+) ions at the PBA cathode. The cell exhibits a well-defined discharge voltage plateau of ∼1.1 V with a specific capacity of about 120 mAh g(-1) at a current of 10 mA g(-1) (∼0.1 C). The Zn anode shows great reversibility, and dendrite-free Zn deposits were obtained after 100 deposition/dissolution cycles. The integration of an environmentally friendly PBA cathode, a nontoxic and low-cost Zn anode, and a biodegradable ionic liquid-water electrolyte provides new perspective to…

The family of nickel-based sulfides is one of the examples that possesses interesting properties in water-splitting fields. In this paper, a controllable and simple strategy to synthesize nickel sulfides was proposed. First, we fabricated NiS 2 hollow microspheres via a hydrothermal process. After a precise heat control in a specific atmosphere, NiS porous hollow microspheres were prepared. This review is intended to provide an overview of the basic principles and applications of SBS. We first describe a method for creating a spinnable polymer solution and stable polymer solution jet by manipulating parameters such as polymer concentration and gas pressure. This method is based on fundamental insights, theoretical models, and empirical studies. We then discuss the unique bundled morphology and mechanical properties of fiber mats produced by SBS, and how they compare with electrospun fiber mats. Applications of SBS in biomedical engineering are highlighted, showing enhanced cell infiltration and proliferation versus electrospun fiber scaffolds and in situ deposition of biodegradable polymers. We also discuss the impact of SBS in applications involving textiles and electronics, including ceramic fibers and conductive composite materials. Strategies for future research are presented…

Herein, for the first time, by direct chemical synthesis, nanocrystalline ε-MnO2 whiskers were formed on MXene nanosheet surfaces (ε-MnO2/Ti2CTx and ε-MnO2/Ti3C2Tx) to make nanocomposite electrodes for aqueous pseudocapacitors. The ε-MnO2 nanowhiskers increase the surface area of the composite electrode and enhance the specific capacitance by nearly 3 orders of magnitude compared to that of pure MXene-based symmetric supercapacitors. Combined with enhanced pseudocapacitance, the fabricated ε-MnO2/MXene supercapacitors exhibited excellent cycling stability with ∼88% of the initial specific capacitance retained after 10000 cycles which is much higher than pure ε-MnO2-based supercapacitors (∼74%). The proposed electrode structure capitalizes on the high specific capacitance of MnO2 and the ability of MXenes to improve conductivity and cycling stability.

Because of the direct band gap of 4.9 eV, β-Ga2O3 has been considered as an ideal material for solar-blind photodetection without any bandgap tuning. Practical applications of the photodetectors require fast response speed, high signal-to-noise ratio, low energy consumption and low fabrication cost. Unfortunately, most reported β-Ga2O3-based photodetectors usually possess a relatively long response time. In addition, the β-Ga2O3 photodetectors based on bulk, the individual 1D nanostructure, and the film often suffer from the high cost, the low repeatability, and the relatively large dark current, respectively. In the area of semiconductor metal oxides (SMOs)-based sensors, a lot of effort has been devoted to improve the sensing characteristics. In this work, we report on a general methodology for improving the selectivity of SMOx nanowires sensors, based on the coverage of ZnO nanowires with a thin ZIF-8 molecular sieve membrane. The hysteresis performance of the ionic-liquid-based sensor was able to be improved by introducing a wavy-shaped fluidic channel diminishing the hysteresis by the viscoelastic relaxation of elastomers. From the simulations on visco-hyperelastic behavior of the elastomeric channel, we demonstrated that the wavy structure can offer lower energy dissipation compared to a flat structure under a given deformation. Z-scheme photocatalytic system shows superiority in degradation of refractory pollutants and water splitting due to the high redox capacities caused by its unique charge transfer behaviors. As a key component of Z-scheme system, the electron mediator plays an important role in charge carrier migration. According to the energy band theory, we believe the interfacial energy band bendings facilitate the electron transfer via Z-scheme mechanism when the Fermi level of electron mediator is between the Fermi levels of Photosystem II (PS II) and Photosystem I (PS I), whereas charge transfer is inhibited in other cases as energy band barriers would form at the semiconductor-metal interfaces. Here, this inference was verified by the increased hydroxyl radical generation and improved photocurrent on WO3-Cu-gC3N4 (with the desired Fermi level structure), which were not observed on either WO3-Ag-gC3N4 or WO3-Au-gC3N4. With zero bias, that is, zero power consumption, the photodetector shows a fast photoresponse time (decay time τ d = 0.07 s) and the ratio I photo /I dark ≈ 20 under 254 nm light illumination with a light intensity of 45 μW/cm 2 . Such behaviors are attributed to the separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs driven by the built-in electric field in the depletion region of β-Ga 2 O 3 and the NSTO interface, and the subsequent transport toward corresponding electrodes. The photocurrent increases linearly with increasing the light intensity and applied bias, while the response time decreases with the increase of the light intensity. Under −10 V bias and 45…

Nanolayered structures present significantly enhanced electrochemical performance by facilitating the surface-dependent electrochemical reaction processes for supercapacitors, which, however, causes capacitance fade upon cycling due to their poor chemical stability. In this work, we report a simple and effective approach to develop a stable, high performance electrode material by integrating 2D transition metal hydroxide and reduced graphene oxide sheets at nanometer scale. Specifically, a hybrid nanolayer of Ni-Co hydroxide @reduced graphene oxide (Ni,Co-OH/rGO) with an average thickness of 1.37 nm is synthesized through an easy one-pot hydrothermal method. Benefiting from the face to face contact model between Ni-Co hydroxide and rGO sheets, such unique structure presents superior specific capacitance and cycling performance as compared to the pure Ni-Co hydroxide nanolayers. An asymmetric supercapacitor based on Ni,Co-OH/rGO and three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical porous carbon is developed, exhibiting a high energy density of 56.1 Wh kg(-1) along with remarkable cycling…

Two lanthanide metal–organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) with similar structures have been synthesized through objective synthesis. The two compounds are both 2-fold interpenetrating 3D frameworks. Topological analyses reveal that complexes 1 and 2 are 6-connected pcu net. In addition, both structures were embedded in uncoordinated nitrogen atoms. As the uncoordinated pyridine groups can be used as functional groups, we tested their sensing ability toward metal ions and small organic molecules. To our delight, fluorescence measurements show the two complexes can selectively and sensitively detect for Fe 3+ ion and nitromethane, which suggests that the two Ln-MOFs are promising bifunctional luminescence sensor materials with sensing metal ions and small organic molecules.

To selectively remove heavy metal from dye solution, inspired by the unique pore structure of ZIF-8, we developed a synthetic strategy for rapid construction of ZnO@ZIF-8 heterostructure photocatalyst for selective reduction of Cr(VI) between Cr(VI) and methylene blue (MB). In particular, ZnO@ZIF-8 core-shell heterostructures were prepared by in situ ZIF-8 crystal growth using ZnO colloidal spheres as template and zinc source within 8-60 min. The shell of the resulting ZnO@ZIF-8 core-shell heterostructure with a uniform thickness of around 30 nm is composed of ZIF-8 crystal polyhedrons. The concentration of organic ligand 2-methylimidazole (Hmim) was found to be crucial for the formation of ZnO@ZIF-8 core-shell heterostructures. Different structures, ZnO@ZIF-8 core-shell spheres and separate ZIF-8 polyhedrons could be formed by altering Hmim concentration, which significantly influences the balance between rate of Zn(2+) release from ZnO and coordinate rate. Importantly, such ZnO@ZIF-8 core-shell heterostructures exhibit size-selective photocatalysis properties due to selective…

Ti3C2Tx, a 2D titanium carbide in the MXenes family, is obtained from Ti3AlC2 through selective etching of the Al layer. Due to its good conductivity and high volumetric capacitance, Ti3C2Tx is regarded as a promising candidate for supercapacitors. In this paper, the fabrication of Ti3C2Tx/RGO composites with different proportions of Ti3C2Tx and RGO is reported, in which RGO acts as a conductive "bridge" to connect different Ti3C2Tx blocks and a matrix to alleviate the volume change during charge/discharge process. In addition, RGO nanosheets can serve as a second nanoscale current collector and support as well for the electrode. The electrochemical performance of the as-fabricated Ti3C2Tx/RGO electrodes, characterized by CV, GCD, and EIS, are also reported. A highest specific capacitance (Cs) of 154.3 F/g at 2 A/g is obtained at the Ti3C2Tx: RGO weight ratio of 7:1 combined with an outstanding capacity retention (124.7 F/g) after 6000 cycles at 4 A/g.

Supercapacitor electrodes employing CuCo2O4 nanosheets exhibit an enhanced capacitance of 1131 F g(-1) at a current density of 1 A g(-1) compared with previously reported supercapacitor electrodes. The CuCo2O4 electrode delivers a specific capacitance of up to 409 F g(-1) at a current density of as high as 50 A g(-1), and a good long-term cycling stability, with 79.7% of its specific capacitance retained after 5000 cycles at 10 A g(-1). This functionality, combined with the good biocompatibility of polymers, has garnered much interest for biomedical applications. In this review, we discuss the design considerations critical to the successful integration of SMPs for use in vivo. We also highlight recent work on three classes of SMPs: shape memory polymers and blends, shape memory polymer composites, and shape memory hydrogels. These developments open the possibility of incorporating SMPs into device design, which can lead to vast technological improvements in the biomedical field.

Macrophage cell membrane (MPCM)-camouflaged gold nanoshells (AuNS) that can serve as a new generation of photothermal conversion agents for in vivo photothermal cancer therapy are presented. They are constructed by the fusion of biocompatible AuNSs and MPCM vesicles. The resulting MPCM-coated AuNSs exhibited good colloidal stability and kept the original near-infrared (NIR) adsorption of AuNSs. Because AuNS carried high-density coverage of MPCMs, the totally functional portions of macrophage cells membrane were grafted onto the surface of AuNSs. This surface functionalization provided active targeting ability by recognizing tumor endothelium and thus improved tumoritropic accumulation compared to the red blood cell membrane-coating approach. These biomimetic nanoparticles significantly enhance in vivo blood circulation time and local accumulation at the tumor when administered systematically. Upon NIR laser irradiation, local heat generated by the MPCM-coated AuNS achieves high efficiency to suppress tumor growth and selectively ablate cancerous cells within the illuminated zone.…

Bismuth-rich bismuth oxyhalides (Bi–O–X; X = Cl, Br, I) display high photocatalytic reduction activity due to the promoting conduction band potential. In this work, two Bi 5 O 7 I nanosheets with different dominant facets were synthesized using either molecular precursor hydrolysis or calcination. Crystal structure characterizations, included X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), field emission electron microscopy and fast Fourier transformation (FFT) images, showed that hydrolysis and calcination resulted in the dominant exposure of {100} and {001} facets, respectively. Photocatalytic data revealed that Bi 5 O 7 I–001 had a higher activity than Bi 5 O 7 I–100 for N 2 fixation and dye degradation. Photoelectrochemical data revealed that Bi 5 O 7 I–001 had higher photoinduced carrier separation efficiency than Bi 5 O 7 I–100. The band structure analysis also used to explain the underlying photocatalytic mechanism based on the different conduction band position. This work presents the first report about the facet-dependent photocatalytic performance of bismuth-rich Bi–O–X photocatalysts.

In this Research Article, we prepared a dual physically cross-linked hydrogel composed of poly(acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (PAM-co-PAA) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) by simple two-steps methods of copolymerization and freezing/thawing. The hydrogen bond-associated entanglement of copolymer chains formed as cross-linking points to construct the first network. After being subjected to the freezing/thawing treatment, PVA crystalline domains were formed to serve as knots of the second network. The hydrogels were demonstrated to integrate strength and toughness (1230 ± 90 kPa and 1250 ± 50 kJ/m(3)) by the introduction of second physically cross-linked network. What̀s more, the hydrogels exhibited rapid recovery, excellent fatigue resistance, and self-healing property. The dynamic property of the dual physically cross-linked network contributes to the excellent energy dissipation and self-healing property. Owing to their high conductivity, crystalline Li 7–3 x Ga x La 3 Zr 2 O 12 garnets are promising electrolytes for all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries. Herein, the influence of Ga doping on the phase, lithium-ion distribution, and conductivity of Li 7–3 x Ga x La 3 Zr 2 O 12 garnets is investigated, with the determined concentration and mobility of lithium ions shedding light on the origin of the high conductivity of Li 7–3 x Ga x La 3 Zr 2 O 12 . When the Ga concentration exceeds 0.20 Ga per formula unit, the garnet-type material is found to assume a cubic structure, but lower Ga concentrations result in the coexistence of cubic and tetragonal phases. Most lithium within Li 7–3 x Ga x La 3 Zr 2 O 12 is found to reside at the octahedral 96 h site, away from the central octahedral 48 g site, while the remaining lithium resides at the tetrahedral 24 d site. Such kind of lithium distribution leads to high lithium-ion mobility, which is the origin of the high conductivity; the highest lithium-ion conductivity of 1.46 mS/cm at 25 °C is found to be achieved for Li 7–3 x Ga x La 3 Zr 2 O…

A new MXene/Ag composite was synthesized by direct reduction of a AgNO3 aqueous solution in the presence of MXene (Ti3C2(OH)0.8F1.2). The as-received MXene/Ag composite can be deemed as an excellent anode material for lithium-ion batteries, exhibiting an extraordinary long cycle lifetime with a large capacity at high charge-discharge rates. The results show that Ag self-reduction in MXene solution is related to the existence of low-valence Ti. Reversible capacities of 310 mAh·g(-1) at 1 C (theoretical value being ∼320 mAh·g(-1)), 260 mAh·g(-1) at 10 C, and 150 mAh·g(-1) at 50 C were achieved. Remarkably, the composite withstands more than 5000 cycles without capacity decay at 1-50 C. The main reasons for the long cycle life with high capacity are relevant to the reduced interface resistance and the occurrence of Ti(II) to Ti(III) during the cycle process.

We fabricated the nickel chains by a facile wet chemical method. The morphology of nickel chains were tailored by adjusting the amount of PVP during the synthesis process. Both the complex permittivity and permeability of the three-dimensional (3D) nets constructed by nickel chains present strong dependences on temperature in the frequency range of 8.2-12.4 GHz and temperature range of 323-573 K. The peaks in imaginary component of permittivity and permeability mainly derive from interfacial polarizations and resonances, devoting to dielectric and magnetic loss, respectively. The effect from both dielectric and magnetism contribute to enhancing the microwave absorption. The maximum absorption value of the 3D nickel chain nets is approximately -50 dB at 8.8 GHz and 373 K with a thickness of 1.8 mm, and the bandwidth less than -10 dB almost covers the whole investigated frequency band. These are encouraging findings, which provide the potential advantages of magnetic transition metal-based materials for microwave absorption application at elevated temperature.

In this paper, we reported a ZnO quantum dots-based pH-responsive drug delivery platform for intracellular controlled release of drugs. Acid-decomposable, luminescent aminated ZnO quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized as nanocarriers with ultrasmall size (∼3 nm). The dicarboxyl-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) had been introduced to NH2-ZnO QDs, which rendered it stable under physiological fluid. Moreover, a targeting ligand, hyaluronic acid (HA), was conjugated to ZnO QDs for specifically binding to the overexpressed glycoprotein CD44 by cancer cells. Doxorubicin (DOX) molecules were successfully loaded to PEG functionalized ZnO QDs via formation of metal-DOX complex and covalent interactions. The pH-sensitive ZnO QDs dissolved to Zn(2+) in acidic endosome/lysosome after uptake by cancer cells, which triggered dissociation of the metal-drug complex and a controlled DOX release. As result, a synergistic therapy was achieved due to incorporation of the antitumor effect of Zn(2+) and DOX.

We developed an effective ETL using low-temperature solution-processed Nb-doped SnO 2 (Nb:SnO 2 ). Compared to the pristine SnO 2, the power conversion efficiency of PSCs based on Nb:SnO 2 ETL is raised to 17.57% from 15.13%. The splendid performance is attributed to the excellent optical and electronic properties of the Nb:SnO 2 material, such as smooth surface, high electron mobility, appropriate electrical conductivity, therefore making a better growth platform for a high quality perovskite absorber layer. Experimental analyses reveal that the Nb:SnO 2 ETL significantly enhances the electron extraction and effectively suppresses charge recombination, leading to improved solar cell performance.

Currently, nickel-based selenide materials are promising candidates for oxygen evolution reaction due to their low cost and excellent performance. In this work, we report the porous nickel-iron bimetallic selenide nanosheets ((Ni0.75Fe0.25)Se2) on carbon fiber cloth (CFC) by selenization of the ultrathin NiFe-based nanosheet precursor. Inspired by the rational design concept, a novel antimicrobial agent zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8)/graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized and utilized as a novel and efficient bactericidal agent to fabricate antimicrobial thin film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes via interfacial polymerization. The resultant hybrid nanosheets not only integrates the merits of both ZIF-8 and GO but also yields a uniform dispersion of ZIF-8 onto GO nanosheets simultaneously, thus effectively eliminating the agglomeration of ZIF-8 in the active layer of membranes. A ZIF-8/GO thin film nanocomposite (TFN-ZG) membrane with typical water permeability (40.63 L m(-2) h(-1) MPa(-1)) allows for efficient bivalent salt removal (rejections of Na2SO4 and MgSO4 were 100% and 77%, respectively). Furthermore, the synthesized ZIF-8/GO nanocomposites were verified to have an optimal antimicrobial activity (MIC,128 μg/mL) in comparison with ZIF-8 and GO separately, which sufficiently endowed the TFN-ZG membrane with excellent antimicrobial activity (84.3% for TFN-ZG3). Besides, the antimicrobial mechanisms of…

High piezo-photocatalytic efficiency of degrading organic pollutants has been realized from CuS/ZnO nanowires using both solar and mechanical energy. CuS/ZnO heterostructured nanowire arrays are compactly/vertically aligned on stainless steel mesh by a simple two-step wet-chemical method. The mesh-supported nanocomposites can facilitate an efficient light harvesting due to the large surface area and can also be easily removed from the treated solution. Under both solar and ultrasonic irradiation, CuS/ZnO nanowires can rapidly degrade methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution, and the recyclability is investigated. In this process, the ultrasonic assistance can greatly enhance the photocatalytic activity. Such a performance can be attributed to the coupling of the built-in electric field of heterostructures and the piezoelectric field of ZnO nanowires. The built-in electric field of the heterostructure can effectively separate the photogenerated electrons/holes and facilitate the carrier transportation. The CuS component can improve the visible light utilization. The piezoelectric…

In this work, three modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with carboxyl (MWCNT-COOH), hydroxyl (MWCNT-OH) and amino groups (MWCNT-NH), respectively, were added into the aqueous phase containing piperazine (PIP) to fabricate the nanocomposite nanofiltration (NF) membranes via interfacial polymerization. The influences of functional groups of MWCNTs on the performance of modified NF membrane were investigated. The MWCNTs were characterized by TEM, FT-IR and TGA; meanwhile, the properties of the membranes were evaluated by XPS, TEM, AFM and contact angle. The XPS results proved the successful incorporation of MWCNT in the active layer of modified NF membrane. When the MWCNT concentration is 0.01% (w/v), all the nanocomposite membranes possessed the optimal separation properties, among which the membrane incorporated with MWCNT-OH demonstrated the highest water flux of 41.4 L·m(-2)·h(-1) and the Na2SO4 rejection of 97.6% whereas the one with MWCNT-COOH had the relative lowest rejection of 96.6%. Furthermore, the increased hydrophilicity of functional groups in modified MWCNTs…

Cesium lead halide (CsPbX3, X = Cl, Br, I) nanocrystals (NCs) offer exceptional optical properties for several potential applications but their implementation is hindered by a low chemical and structural stability and limited processability. In the present work, we developed a new method to efficiently coat CsPbX3 NCs, which resulted in their increased chemical and optical stability as well as processability. The method is based on the incorporation of poly(maleic anhydride-alt-1-octadecene) (PMA) into the synthesis of the perovskite NCs. The presence of PMA in the ligand shell stabilizes the NCs by tightening the ligand binding, limiting in this way the NC surface interaction with the surrounding media. We further show that these NCs can be embedded in self-standing silicone/glass plates as down-conversion filters for the fabrication of monochromatic green and white light emitting diodes (LEDs) with narrow bandwidths and appealing color characteristics.

MXene, a two-dimensional layer of transition metal carbides/nitrides, showed great promise for energy storage, sensing, and electronic applications. MXene are chemically exfoliated from the bulk MAX phase; however, mechanistic understanding of exfoliation and subsequent functionalization of these technologically important materials is still lacking. Here, using density-functional theory we show that exfoliation of Ti3C2 MXene proceeds via HF insertion through edges of Ti3AlC2 MAX phase. Spontaneous dissociation of HF and subsequent termination of edge Ti atoms by H/F weakens Al-MXene bonds. Consequent opening of the interlayer gap allows further insertion of HF that leads to the formation of AlF3 and H2, which eventually come out of the MAX, leaving fluorinated MXene behind. Density of state and electron localization function shows robust binding between F/OH and Ti, which makes it very difficult to obtain controlled functionalized or pristine MXene. Analysis of the calculated Gibbs free energy (ΔG) shows fully fluorinated MXene to be lowest in energy, whereas the formation of…

There is an increasing demand for flexible, skin-attachable, and wearable strain sensors due to their various potential applications. However, achieving strain sensors with both high sensitivity and high stretchability is still a grand challenge. Here, we propose highly sensitive and stretchable strain sensors based on the reversible microcrack formation in composite thin films. Controllable parallel microcracks are generated in graphite thin films coated on elastomer films. Sensors made of graphite thin films with short microcracks possess high gauge factors (maximum value of 522.6) and stretchability (ε ≥ 50%), whereas sensors with long microcracks show ultrahigh sensitivity (maximum value of 11,344) with limited stretchability (ε ≤ 50%). We demonstrate the high performance strain sensing of our sensors in both small and large strain sensing applications such as human physiological activity recognition, human body large motion capturing, vibration detection, pressure sensing, and soft robotics.

Self-standing films (45 μm thick) of native cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) were synthesized and characterized for their piezoelectric response. The surface and the microstructure of the films were evaluated with image-based analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The measured dielectric properties of the films at 1 kHz and 9.97 GHz indicated a relative permittivity of 3.47 and 3.38 and loss tangent tan δ of 0.011 and 0.071, respectively. The films were used as functional sensing layers in piezoelectric sensors with corresponding sensitivities of 4.7-6.4 pC/N in ambient conditions. This piezoelectric response is expected to increase remarkably upon film polarization resulting from the alignment of the cellulose crystalline regions in the film. The CNF sensor characteristics were compared with those of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) as reference piezoelectric polymer. Overall, the results suggest that CNF is a suitable precursor material for disposable piezoelectric sensors, actuators, or energy generators with potential applications in the fields of electronics, sensors, and…

The demand for simple, sensitive, affordable, and selective DNA biosensors is ubiquitous, due to the important role that DNA detection performs in the areas of disease diagnostics, environment monitoring, and food safety. A novel application of carboxylic carbon quantum dots (cCQD) is highlighted in this study. Herein, cCQD function as a nanoquencher in the detection of nucleic acid based on a homogeneous fluorescent assay. To that purpose, the performance of two types of cCQD, namely, citric acid QD and malic acid QD, is evaluated. The principle behind the sensing of nucleic acid lies in the different propensity of single-stranded DNA and double-stranded DNA to adsorb onto the surface of cCQD. For both types of cCQD, a superior range of detection of at least 3 orders of magnitude is achieved, and the potential to distinguish single-base mismatch is also exhibited. These findings are anticipated to provide valuable insights on the employment of cCQD for the fabrication of future DNA biosensors.

Efficient nuclear waste treatment and environmental management are important hurdles that need to be overcome if nuclear energy is to become more widely used. Herein, we demonstrate the first case of using two-dimensional (2D) multilayered V2CTx nanosheets prepared by HF etching of V2AlC to remove actinides from aqueous solutions. The V2CTx material is found to be a highly efficient uranium (U(VI)) sorbent, evidenced by a high uptake capacity of 174 mg g(-1), fast sorption kinetics, and desirable selectivity. Fitting of the sorption isotherm indicated that the sorption followed a heterogeneous adsorption model, most probably due to the presence of heterogeneous adsorption sites. Density functional theory calculations, in combination with X-ray absorption fine structure characterizations, suggest that the uranyl ions prefer to coordinate with hydroxyl groups bonded to the V-sites of the nanosheets via forming bidentate inner-sphere complexes.

MXenes are a recently discovered class of 2D materials with an excellent potential for energy storage applications. Because MXene surfaces are hydrophilic and attractive interaction forces between the layers are relatively weak, water molecules can spontaneously intercalate at ambient humidity and significantly influence the key properties of this 2D material. Using complementary X-ray and neutron scattering techniques, we demonstrate that intercalation with potassium cations significantly improves structural homogeneity and water stability in MXenes. In agreement with molecular dynamics simulations, intercalated potassium ions reduce the water self-diffusion coefficient by 2 orders of magnitude, suggesting greater stability of hydrated MXene against changing environmental conditions.

Shapes of the obtained CsPbBr 3 NCs can be systematically engineered into single and lamellar-structured 0D quantum dots, as well as face-to-face stacking 2D nanoplatelets and flat-lying 2D nanosheets via tuning the amounts of oleic acid (OA) and oleylamine (OM). It is still unknown if the black phosphorus atomically thin sheet is an ideal structure for the enhanced gas-solid interactions due to its large surface area. To further investigate this concern, we have synthesized few atomic layer thick nanosheets of black phosphorus using an electrochemical exfoliation method. The surface morphology and thickness of the nanosheet were identified using AFM, TEM, and Raman spectroscopy. The black phosphorus nanosheet thick film device was used for the gas sensing application with exposure to different humidites. Further, the few layer black phosphorus nanosheet based transistor shows good mobility and on/off ratio. The UV light irradiation on the black phosphorus nanosheet shows good response time. The heterojunction films are prepared by CVD growth of S-doped g-C3N4 film on indium-tin oxide (ITO) glass substrates, with subsequent deposition of a low bandgap, 1.69 eV, visible-light response MoS2 layer by hydrothermal synthesis. Adding thiourea into melamine as the coprecursor not only facilitates the growth of g-C3N4 films but also introduces S dopants into the films, which significantly improves the PEC performance. Adjusting the acrylamide monomer and cross-linker content in polyacrylamide gels controls the hydrogel stiffness, yet the reported elastic modulus for the same formulations varies widely and these discrepancies are frequently attributed to different measurement methods. Few studies exist that examine stiffness trends across monomer and cross-linker concentrations using the same characterization platform. In this work, we use Atomic Force Microscopy and analyze force-distance curves to derive the elastic modulus of polyacrylamide hydrogels. We find that gel elastic modulus increases with increasing cross-link concentration until an inflection point, after which gel stiffness decreases with increasing cross-linking. This behavior arises because of the formation of highly cross-linked clusters, which add inhomogeneity and heterogeneity to the network structure, causing the global network to soften even under high cross-linking conditions. We identify these inflection points for three different total polymer formulations. When we alter gelation kinetics by using a low polymerization…

The functional groups of PNHCDs are introduced by simply mixing glucose, 1,2-ethylenediamine, and concentrated phosphoric acid. This is an automatic method without external heat treatment to rapidly produce large quantities of PNHCDs, which avoid high temperature, complicated operations, and long reaction times. The construction of a p-n heterojunction is an efficient strategy to resolve the limited light absorption and serious charge-carrier recombination in semiconductors and enhance the photocatalytic activity. However, the promotion effect is greatly limited by poor interfacial charge transfer efficiency as well as reduced redox ability of charge carriers. Compared to the epoxy composite with 0.8 wt % thermally annealed GAs (TGAs) with an EMI shielding effectiveness of 27 dB, the aligned graphene/epoxy composite with 0.8 wt % thermally treated AGAs (TAGAs) has an enhanced EMI shielding effectiveness of 32 dB along the radial direction with a slightly decreased shielding…

Metastasis is one of the deadliest consequences of breast cancer, with bone being one of the primary sites of occurrence. Insufficient 3D biomimetic models currently exist to replicate this process in vitro. In this study, we developed a biomimetic bone matrix using 3D bioprinting technology to investigate the interaction between breast cancer (BrCa) cells and bone stromal cells (fetal osteoblasts and human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)). A tabletop stereolithography 3D bioprinter was employed to fabricate a series of bone matrices consisting of osteoblasts or MSCs encapsulated in gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) hydrogel with nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite (nHA). When BrCa cells were introduced into the stromal cell-laden bioprinted matrices, we found that the growth of BrCa cells was enhanced by the presence of osteoblasts or MSCs, whereas the proliferation of the osteoblasts or MSCs was inhibited by the BrCa cells. The BrCa cells co-cultured with MSCs or osteoblasts presented increased vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) secretion in comparison to that of…

Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) is a promising electrolyte material for all-solid-state battery due to its high ionic conductivity and good stability with metallic lithium. In this article, we studied the effect of crucibles on the ionic conductivity and air stability by synthesizing 0.25Al doped LLZO pellets in Pt crucibles and alumina crucibles, respectively. The results show that the composition and microstructure of the pellets play important roles influencing the ionic conductivity, relative density, and air stability. Specifically, the 0.25Al-LLZO pellets sintered in Pt crucibles exhibit a high relative density (∼96%) and high ionic conductivity (4.48 × 10(-4) S cm(-1)). The ionic conductivity maintains 3.6 × 10(-4) S cm(-1) after 3-month air exposure. In contrast, the ionic conductivity of the pellets from alumina crucibles is about 1.81 × 10(-4) S cm(-1) and drops to 2.39 × 10(-5) S cm(-1) 3 months later. The large grains and the reduced grain boundaries in the pellets sintered in Pt crucibles are favorable to obtain high ionic conductivity and good air stability. X-ray photoelectron…
How to read this list
The cohort is every article, review and book chapter OpenAlex attributes to ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces with publication year 2016, excluding retracted works and paratext such as editorials and errata. The top 100 by citation count are listed; the percentile is the rank divided by the cohort size. 100 of the 100 entries have an abstract in OpenAlex. Counts were read on 29 October 2026 and will not be updated on this page, so a quoted rank stays verifiable. Full rules on the methodology page.
