However, the nature of channels protected by cryptographic protocols makes it difficult to distinguish between normal and malicious network traffic behaviors. This means that traditional anomaly detection models with features from packets extracted a deep packet inspection (DPI) have been neutralized. Recently, studies on anomaly detection using artificial intelligence (AI) and statistical characteristics of traffic have been proposed as an alternative. In this review, we provide a systematic review for AI-based anomaly detection techniques over encrypted traffic. We set several research questions on the review topic and collected research according to eligibility criteria. Through the screening process and quality…

    73 citationsOpen access (CC-BY)doi:10.3390/s25010065OpenAlex

    Show abstract

Arbitrary-oriented ship detection has become challenging due to problems of high resolution, poor imaging clarity, and large size differences between targets in remote sensing images. Most of the existing ship detection methods are difficult to use simultaneously to meet the requirements of high accuracy and speed. Therefore, we designed a lightweight and efficient multi-scale feature dilated neck module in the YOLO11 network to achieve the high-precision detection of arbitrary-oriented ships in remote sensing images. Firstly, multi-scale dilated attention is utilized to effectively capture the multi-scale semantic details of ships in remote sensing images. Secondly, the interaction between the spatial information of remote sensing images and the semantic information of low-resolution features of ships is realized by using the cross-stage partial stage. Finally, the GSConv module is introduced to minimize the loss of semantic information on ship features during transmission. The experimental results show that the proposed method has the advantages of light structure and high…

A vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a sophisticated wireless communication infrastructure incorporating centralized and decentralized control mechanisms, orchestrating seamless data exchange among vehicles. This intricate communication system relies on the advanced capabilities of 5G connectivity, employing specialized topological arrangements to enhance data packet transmission. These vehicles communicate amongst themselves and establish connections with roadside units (RSUs). In the dynamic landscape of vehicular communication, disruptions, especially in scenarios involving high-speed vehicles, pose challenges. A notable concern is the emergence of black hole attacks, where a vehicle acts maliciously, obstructing the forwarding of data packets to subsequent vehicles, thereby compromising the secure dissemination of content within the VANET. We present an intelligent cluster-based routing protocol to mitigate these challenges in VANET routing. The system operates through two pivotal phases: first, utilizing an artificial neural network (ANN) model to detect malicious nodes, and…

Sign language is an essential means of communication for individuals with hearing disabilities. However, there is a significant shortage of sign language interpreters in some languages, especially in Saudi Arabia. This shortage results in a large proportion of the hearing-impaired population being deprived of services, especially in public places. In this paper, we propose a hybrid model to capture the spatio-temporal aspects of sign language (i.e., letters and words). The hybrid model consists of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) classifier to extract spatial features from sign language data and a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) classifier to extract spatial and temporal characteristics to handle sequential data (i.e., hand movements). To demonstrate the feasibility of our proposed hybrid model, we created a dataset of 20 different words, resulting in 4000 images for ArSL: 10 static gesture words and 500…
