About the conference
CHI is the flagship of human–computer interaction and one of the largest ACM conferences: interaction techniques, user studies, accessibility, design research, social computing, and increasingly human-AI interaction. In HCI’s conference-centric publishing culture, CHI papers carry journal-grade weight.
Full papers are typically due in early September for the spring conference, with decisions around January — many as "conditional accepts" with required revisions. Late-breaking work, case studies, and workshops have separate winter deadlines, useful when September passes without a finished study.
