Kahubi vs QuillBot

QuillBot is a popular, easy tool for rewording sentences, fixing grammar and summarising text. For academic writing the harder problems are elsewhere: saying something your sources actually support, citing them correctly and sounding like yourself. Kahubi is built for those.

What QuillBot does well

Credit where it's due: these are real strengths, and for some workflows they are exactly what you need.

  • Fast paraphrasing with several modes and synonym control
  • Grammar and spelling checks
  • Summaries of long text
  • Browser and Word integrations that work wherever you type

Where Kahubi differs

Writing from sources, not from a sentence

Paraphrasing changes the words of a sentence you already have. Kahubi writes from your library: the agent reads the papers, writes a paragraph that says what they actually say, and cites them in your style.

Your voice, not a synonym swap

Kahubi learns a style profile from your own published papers: sentence rhythm, hedging and argument structure. New text starts from that voice, which is what makes it yours.

Honest citations

The agent only cites papers that exist in your library or that it found during the conversation, and marks [CITATION NEEDED] when your sources do not support a claim.

A full manuscript environment

Improve, shorten, expand and fix-grammar actions on any selection, plus version history, a Word add-in, LaTeX compile and .docx export.

Kahubi vs QuillBot: common questions

Is paraphrasing with AI plagiarism?
Paraphrasing someone else’s ideas without citing them is plagiarism, whether a person or a tool does the rewording. The safe approach is to write from your sources and cite them. Kahubi does that by default, and its similarity check helps you spot passages that sit too close to a source.
Will AI detectors flag text written with Kahubi?
AI detectors are unreliable for all text, including fully human writing. What protects you is transparency and quality: disclose substantial AI use as your institution asks, check every claim and citation, and make the text your own. See our guide on why AI detection tools do not work.
Does Kahubi check grammar?
Yes. Select any text in the editor and choose fix grammar, improve, shorten or expand, or save your own prompts.
