On publisher pages, Google Scholar, PubMed or arXiv, the extension reads the paper’s metadata — title, authors, DOI, venue — and files it in your Kahubi library in one click.

PDFs through your institutional access

The PDF downloads inside your own browser session — the same cookies and campus access you already have — so paywalled and cookie-walled PDFs that no server-side tool can reach land in your library.

Chat with the PDF you are reading

A side panel with the same chat as the Kahubi app: save a paper and ask about its methods, claims or limitations while you read — answers are grounded in the full text, not the abstract.

Ask about any selection

Highlight a passage on any page, right-click, and ask Kahubi about it. Works on papers and ordinary web pages alike — the current page can be chatted with even before you save it.

Up and running in three steps

    Add the extension to Chrome

    The extension is in final review on the Chrome Web Store — the install link appears here the moment it is live.

    Sign in to Kahubi

    Open the side panel from the toolbar (or Ctrl+Shift+K) and sign in with your Kahubi account. The panel uses your normal session — no extra passwords or API keys.

    Save and chat

    Visit any paper, click Save to Kahubi, then ask away. Everything you capture is in your library — and in the Word add-in — immediately.

Writing in Word? The captured papers are instantly citable from the Kahubi Word add-in.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the PDF capture work where other tools fail?
Reference managers that fetch PDFs from a server get blocked by publisher bot-walls and paywalls. The extension downloads the PDF inside your own browser, with your own university login and cookies — exactly as if you clicked the download button yourself.
Is the extension free?
Yes. Saving papers works on every Kahubi plan. Chatting uses your plan’s normal AI message allowance, same as chat inside the app.
Which sites does it work on?
Any page with standard scholarly metadata (the citation tags Google Scholar reads): publisher sites like Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, SAGE and Taylor & Francis, plus arXiv, PubMed, SSRN and university repositories. Plain PDFs open in a tab can be saved too.
What can the extension see?
It reads the metadata of pages you visit to detect papers, and only sends something to Kahubi when you explicitly save or ask a question. No browsing history is collected or transmitted.
Does it work with Edge, Brave or Arc?
Yes — any Chromium-based browser that supports side panels can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store.
